ADOPT A BOLLARD PAINT A BOLLARD SPONSOR A BOLLARD PAINT A BOLLARD
- The Project to be a community-wide activity involving local people, groups, and businesses to encourage community spirit
- An ongoing annual design competition to be held for bollards, open to individuals, community groups, schools, charities...
- Bollards can be painted in winning designs by local people, community groups or sponsors
- Local businesses can sponsor individual bollards with their name included within the design
- Community groups can Adopt a Bollard
- Grand unveiling ceremonies can be arranged with opportunities for publicity
- A dedicated Bollard Website to be available featuring each decorated bollard providing recognition to the bollard's theming or to any business or group
- Designs can change from time to time adding interest, variety and anticipation for what may follow
- Designs can have a sponsors theme, story, or a visitor's route. and can be educational in content
- The project can have associated leaflets for visitors
- Decorated bollards encourage ownership of the Town centre street fabric and generate pride in the Town
- The colourful result will enhance the Town centre
- Decoration will replace existing maintainance, reducing costs to the taxpayer.
- They will attract interest from visitors to the town, increasing footfall for local shops and businesses

Community Art
The Project is designed to encompass the whole Community of the town and surrounding area and be open to involvement from everyone whether child, adult, individual, community group or business.
It is based on Fun and Enjoyment with maximum participation.
A major feature of the idea is for regular local competitions.
Many other towns and cities have decorated bollards but it is understood that this Project is unique in its level of community involvement.
A Winning Entry for Whitchurch
The Project was entered into the Whitchurch Community Art Project, part of the Town Centre Improvements Project, funded by SEEDA (South East England Development Agency). Earlier in 2009 it was selected as the 'Winning Entry'.
On October 20th 2009 the Project was given the Green Light. Submit those ideas now...
